The History of Radiocarbon Dating
Radio carbon dating was first demonstrated by Willard Libby in 1949. He went on to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1960 for his work. The method is pretty accurate when measuring up to around 50,000 years in the past. But there are special methods that can be used when measuring material much further back.
