A 54 year old man receives 25 milliliters of a 50% alcohol and quarter percent bupivacane solution for a celiac plexus block. During the next 20 minutes, blood pressure decreases from 130 over 75 to 85 over 50. Intravascular injection, retroperitoneal hemorrhage, splenconic vasodilation, subarachnoid blockade, tension pneumothorax can all cause hypotension.
