The Importance of Understanding Emptiness
The word for emptiness in Sanskrit is shunya. It just means empty of self. When you become empty of self or self-nature, what it really means is you become full of everything. So this is truly not just the basis of equanimity. This is the basis of compassion. And so when you're reaching out to save another, you're saving yourself. You want to take these teachings to inform a more open, compassionate relationship to this world.
