On Singer's view and on the evolutionary naturalist view in general, part of what Singer seems to be saying is, why would we privilege ourselves above dogs? He's just taking that for granted. And there is no add up natural adaptation that makes a human. On their view, as you're saying, everything's just kind of an adaptation. We're not meant to be here. I can't figure out why we're supposed to care about animals on their view.
