A woman hasn't got a chance of being reasonable at this stage in history, has she? No. What really Peter Damian was very worried about, what he was cautioning his fellow clergyman against, was being taken in by feminine wiles. The enduring narrative of the female temptress and the poor hapless man who can never be held accountable for anything he might do because he was led astray is something that I argue shows those enduring schemata reoccurring again and again and again. We just haven't loosed ourselves from these historical ties.
