Any application that has a file format subscriptions do kind of hold your files hostage. If you ever want to like look at them again or open them or edit them again, you have to pay subscriptions on the flip side of that. So everything has its ups and downs. And I don't think the current model we're in is perfect. There's lots of models that are suitable for some applications that Apple simply does not support.
