Juan Colonel Gaddafi took power in a coup on October 1st, 1970. He has insisted throughout his ascent to power that he is an entirely benevolent figure. But it's not until five months later that he reveals the identities of his 12 strong revolutionary command council. His aim is to create an impression of humble functionalism - but instead he is concentrating power in himself.
