Papyrus Is Extinct in Egypt
The vousuvius explosion saved someone's library which obviously also charred it so it's very difficult to read but they keep trying. Papyrus became extinct in Egypt the only places that it existed were in I think parts of Sicily maybe. The understanding of how to best produce high quality papyrus might be a trade secret.
