We've just seen that the soul falls short of God's eternal perfection. Nonetheless, there is that line in Genesis telling us that we are created in God's image. It would be a bonus if the Trinity within us had other features echoing those of the divine Trinity. Augustine must look to the soul for good examples because a trinity of bodies could never fit the bill.
