How to Refer to Benedict the 16th as Pope Emeritus
Our next question comes from Nicholas Swaboda who writes, how should we refer to Benedict the 16th now that he's entered into his reward? Is it most appropriate to continue to refer to him as Pope Emeritus? Or do we revert back to plain old hope? We revert back toplain old pope. That's what we do with every other pope in history, even the ones that resigned like Celestine the 5th today. And so the historic pattern of referring to a retired pope who's deceased as pope would seem to be the obvious way to go.
