Koda is about a family who tries to learn an ASL language. There are six scenes in the movie where there's just silence. The director says he wanted people to experience what it was like to be deaf and hear someone talking out loud for the first time. Koda: I think sound is very important to hearing people, especially when they're with interpreters.
