This is one of the first major holidays for people in mainland China after three years of zero COVID restrictions. Around 274 million people traveled over the five-day labor holiday. That was almost 120% of the pre-pandemic levels in 2019. Experts are saying that the easy part of the post-opening recovery is done because we've already seen the release of pent-up demand, they say.
