The Importance of Reason in Morality

Skeptical about the power of moral reasoning, you insist that we do this far less often than we think or than anyone hopes. You also claim that most of our seemingly rational talk about morality isn't what it appears to be because we reason like lawyers and not really like moral philosophers. Most of our reasoning is in the service of justifying moral attitudes that we arrived at intuitively. So if you think about reason as an emergent property of a system that's set up well then I'm a big fan of reason.
