China is turning into an autocracy. Authorisation takes new forms and the new form it's taking at the moment is a laser sharp focus on keeping Covid numbers down. I've never quite understood why it's so difficult for the Chinese government to persuade its elderly people to have Covid jabs which of course is the key to opening up but it hasn't done that. We've seen over the weekend reports of children being shipped off to COVID quarantine camps separated from their parents. This is a cruel vicious way to run a country and there is growing internal opposition to it. China has such a all-incompassing control over social media and surveillance that it is very easy for them
