Not Forgiving Can Feel Empowering
In the course of the metu movement, there have been cases where people have said that those who harassed women should be forgiven and we should move on. I want to draw your attention to something that amber spark said in that clip, because, at least emotionally, i feel like it rings true. It seems to me that sometimes not forgiving can feel empowering. Not forgiving can feel empowering because it can be an agentic choice, in contrast to being put in a position that you didn't have any choice about. We need to be looking for are the people who are being held accountable, owning their own need for undergoing change that's genuine and that's responsive.
