The in-game items you collect are now also attached to your Sony account. You don't have to enter the game to see your item list. There will essentially be NFTs, but they'll just be called digital collectibles or item haul. On your PS5, when you boot it up, there'll be a marketplace section. The benefit for someone like Sony or a particular game maker is they can collect royalties in perpetuity for every sale its made.
