The Impact of Dreams on Geopolitics
Dreams carried enormous weight in the Greco-Roman world and were often viewed as omens or prophetic signs of things to come. Depending on who you were, dreams could also have very serious geopolitical implications. Alexander the Great spared Jerusalem due solely to the actions of high priest Jaddis following a prophetic dream. The story is probably untrue, but it's a cool example of how ancient people just assumed that geopolitics could be influenced by dreams.
