John Locke - The Right to Man
John Locke was much more influential in the United States as a political theorist than he is here. He really helped to influence even the writing and the formation of the American Constitution. And he's an English guy. So he's hugely influential. If you want to understand the West Western tradition, John Locke is certainly a guy to go to along with J.S. Mill and Jeremy Bentham.
