The percentage of women who say that they've experienced domestic violence in India is lower than it was a couple of decades ago. And because India continues to get richer, there's no reason to assume that that improvement won't continue. But as we saw sexual violence, there's only one aspect of the general ease of disempowered position of women in a country. That's underwritten by social norms and beliefs and particular roles. As long as these things don't change, it'll be very difficult to substantially improve the situation for women.
