The Woman With the Red Hat and the Woman With the Flute
Tronys is a small scale work focusing on a half-length image close up of a single figure. They are both uniquely for Vermeer, painted on wooden panels and similar compositions. But at the same time, very much part of our thinking was that these are exceptional paintings within those paintings associated with Vermeer. So we might find a direct point of comparison between the woman with the flute and theWoman with the red hat but we have to step back and think about the other paintings by Vermeers.
