What Is an IMEI?

The IMEI is a hard-coded identifier within a particular phone and that number exists regardless what service you're using. If we want to sever ties with that identifier which a phone provider can see and which Apple and Google can see if we want to have privacy in that way we would have to purchase a new phone.
