"I believe that a fourth dimension exists, of course it does," he says. "There's no reason to assume there isn't the possibility of something we would consider an intelligent being being able to conceive of dimensions and other ideas or abstractions" He finds comfort in the idea that what happens in math is like you're saying using pen and paper like a telescope to get just the shadowy notion of like, oh, there is knowledge beyond knowledge.
In this episode we explore the weirdness and wonder of Math Without Numbers with mathematician Milo Beckman who wrote a book about the math behind multiple infinities, strange topologies, and extra dimensions, all without using numbers to explain some of the most fascinating and complex ideas that usually only make sense when scribbled in strange notations on a blackboard.
