Jennifer says part of why a large section of the public was so receptive to the media's rebuttal was that the public mood had shifted significantly since 2020 when protests were held. Jennifer: Chile, like so many countries, is suffering an economic crisis, economic malaise, rising inflation, very difficult cost of living. And especially the provisions in the new constitution around recognition, rights and restitution for indigenous peoples also become fodder for fear-mongering around the right.
