Korean American journalist una lee and her colleague, laura ling, were captured in two thousand nine by north korea soldiers. They had been sentenced to 12 years in a north korean hard labor camp. The date for their transfer to the labor camp had not yet been set,. so una and laura continued to spend their days in confinement in a secluded complex in pianyang. One thing that really moved me about your story is that you were surprised by the kindness that the people you met in North Korea showed you.
Korean-American journalist Euna Lee was captured by North Korean soldiers in 2009, and forced into captivity for 140 days. While Euna’s time in North Korea was harrowing, there was one aspect of her experience that surprised her and challenged some long-held beliefs she had about 'the enemy.'
