HBO Max is about to relaunch as Max in May. The last time there was a writer strike, the economy in Los Angeles was estimated to lose more than $2 billion. A lot of workers who've built up around production hubs would suddenly not have a job for a while and would have to find something else to do.
TV and film writers just voted to authorize a strike, which could leave studios without fresh scripts as soon as May 1. Bloomberg business reporter Lucas Shaw explains.
