In Britain, you can go home after birth in as little as a six hour discharge. The early days with a new one when they are awake every two, three hours are exhausting and eat after birth particularly so. If you don't want to breastfeed, don't breastfeed. There is a recognized phenomena of breastfeeding grief where we're in decades later feel sad that their journey didn't work out as they wanted to. And this is what we lose when we don't care what new parents, they are exhausted.
