Cloud Security Research - Pen Testing?

In general, pen testing is a point in time security assessment of an environment or an application. As a researcher, like you mentioned, there's a ton of different areas of research that you can be involved in. I have colleagues who work in threat research, tracking real world adversaries and stuff like that. For me personally, I get to do a lot of the offensive security stuff. So it's more hypothetical. But from that research, trying to then apply those two real environments to make sure that members are secure.
