The Trial of Franklin B. Evans

Franklin B. Evans was arrested in 1865 for the murder of Georgie, a young girl who had been raped and murdered by her step-father. His trial began on February 3, 1873, at Exeter Town Hall after he claimed that he knew nothing about the choice children murders. The indictment posited that Evans did choke and strangle, throw down upon the ground, kick beaten bruise, and with a knife did indecently and terribly mutilate the body of his victim each and all unto her death.
