The Importance of Reconstruction for Black People
I asked my students I said what do people transitioning to freedom need and they'll yell out things. They'll say housing, clothes, jobs, health,. They'll say all these things the basic needs of people and I say, okay, how are they gonna get it? So then we have this whole conversation about like what is actually given and what's aided and what's whatever two black people during this time were looking for. It was a complicated time period and that it ends really abruptly For me, I think students really enjoy seeing all of the aspects of how Complicated this time period is.
