Michael Microbauer doesn't like to have anything in between his speakers or in front of them when he's mixing. He puts his monitor off to the left to the right wherever so that he can get to it when he needs to make edits, but not so much that he's looking at everything he's doing. "I only look at it if I'm searching for something ... Otherwise, it's just the speakers, my faders," he says.
