We talked about this great quote from Alan Noble in his book, You Are Not Your Own. He says that to live in a high tech, ultra mobile society of sovereign individuals is to be haunted with disorientation and dis equilibrium. We feel as if we are untethered, floating in space, free to move, but unable to touch the ground. Our anxiety over belonging makes us highly sensitive to the flaws and betrayals and disappointments that attend all human efforts at community.
