The Importance of Unsupervised Learning in Deep Learning

There are two other interesting papers during this period that I think might be good to kind of pair together so you were working on exploring strategies for training deep neural networks and deep learning using robust interdependent codes. Now at the time we were getting a lot of questions about how do you pick the number of hidden units in each layer and things like that. We thought maybe that's an opportunity doing these experiments seeing what our good designs would look like. It turns out was successful way of doing it but with more compute than some of these ideas weren't as useful in terms of training larger models faster.
