The Importance of Voiceovers in a Drama

I wonder if one of the things that tips it in favor of the audience staying in his corner is perhaps the voiceovers where we go inside his mind a little more than we otherwise would be able to. You kind of inherently empathize with the person who you're seeing the story through their prism. Everybody is more relatable if you're seeing it through their eyes. I always envisioned that inner voice being a kind of nurturing female voice and now Sam has stole her from me and made her his personal assistant on this show. That was a big question of whether that was gonna happen or not but I had to put my foot yeah right throw some weight around.
