Jay Parini: It's really bleak just to look and see just the dearth of films that are both positive messages and are really great cinema. But it is striking just kind of in a way that's so parallel to how coincidentally like every major corporation is on one side in the culture war, even though if any one of them took the other side, they can make a lot of money off of it. That's the same thing with the arts and Hollywood that the books are just so cooked that you see everything sliding in one direction there. I think David Lynch said the era of the all tour of, you know, film maker is done. So he's probably right about that
