i think there is this kind of convention, or just this idea that children's literature should somehow be a teaching tool. I do, on the other hand, feel like i have been allowed to make some very weird books, and i'm really grateful for it. Ursula norstrom, the legendary children's book editor from, you know, the early part to the mid late part of the twentieth century, championed all these weird books. She was fighting against the same con ons that we're kind of railing against right now. They've always been there.
