Introduction
In 1952, three legal residents faced deportation based on their prior membership in the Communist Party. The courts ruling in this case established that some constitutional rights simply don't apply to certain groups based on their immigration status. In recognizing a communist, physical appearance counts for nothing. If he openly declares himself to be a communist, we take his word for it.
