The Importance of Honolulu
About 1,400 Japanese people were arrested and held at an internment camp on Sand Island in Honolulu. More than two-thirds of those incarcerated were American citizens. FBI agent Shivers: "I just want the chance to prove that I'm as American as you are" The U.S. started taking back Island after Island from Japan only months after Pearl Harbor.
