The Diaspora and the Longing Desire for a Future Return
The homeland doesn't exist outside of history. It does not remain what it was in the moment of rupture. The african homes of those who were deported, for instance, are no longer in the same place as they were in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. While a special sense of attachment to the lost home may be found among all, this does not always translate into a desire for a permanent going back.
