At least 56 police officers have been killed by gunfire so far this year. That's a 14% increase over the same time last year and a 45% increase since 2020. Nearly half of the deaths are result of ambushes in which officers were targeted because they are police. Julem Bartow, who serves as sheriff for Nevada's Clark County is running to be next governor.
