The American Revolution

In 1766, just a year after the Stamp Act was passed, Britain raised approximately zero pounds in revenue because of American resistance. As soon as Parliament repealed the Stamp Act, it passed another statement called the Declaratory Act. So that was a real sticky point. And I think you can make a very strong case that from that point forward ... revolution was unavoidable. One side had to blink if it were to be avoided and neither side did.
