The Transgressiveness of Horror in the Arts

There seems to be a very wide gap between horror in the UK and horror in the US. The UK, first of all, has a much longer history and the Gothic past. Horror is not cozy. It's not safe. It shouldn't be. I think it does something extraordinary really in terms of you can you can make satirical points. You can make social commentary through horror. And I suppose I do respond most to that kind of European sensibility. But yes, in a way, I suppose it is because it's the, it's where it's the roots of it all.
