I don't really think it's the anti-orientalist prism that explains. I think also, you know, what we find with the embrace of Hezbollah is the first early stirrings of what later comes to be called campism. And yes, there was an overlap of interests when Hezbollah undertook resistance against the Israelis but they used that victory to serve their own agenda. But we shouldn't lie to ourselves. Those are not the interests of people who support a more progressive, secular, democratic, Middle Eastern politics. They're not.
