The Father Is Greater Than I
John 14, eigt. You heard me say to you, i am going away, and i will come to you. If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because i am going to the father. For the father is greater than i. There are many a patricia interpreters who take greater in thi of as the font of divinity, as the source of the son's life. He is greater. And that implies no lesser being on the part of the son, but is simply coordinate with the father's being which eternally generates the son. I think jesus is speaking about himself with reference to his humanity.
