What Does Idos Mean in Attic Greek?

Plato talks about the idea of beauty and equality in his dialogues. The word idos is derived from a word for vision, which can mean an image or thing seen. Plato chooses this word because of its established association with the visual. It's also used to refer to what we would call form in english when you're talking about people.
