How to Treat Trigger Fingers
A couple of weeks to allow time for the inflammation to kind of calm down is probably a good place to start. You don't want to do it forever because that you, you can lose mobility if you keep something immobile for a long period of time. Like most other things, in the hand this responds well to a steroid injection and that may even cure it.
