The Concept of Devil's Advocate, Away From the Film

The real concept of devil's advocate comes from a religious institution. Back in the day, the Catholic Church had a bunch of people who were being put up as possible saints. The church created the role of Avaca's diabolite, devil's advocate. But today, primarily, it means to take a position that I don't necessarily agree with and let me reverse engineer the logic from there.
