Roosevelt, Franklin Rosevelt, and the American Medical Association

The opposition of the american medical association would have been very costly to roosevelt. There was a great deal of trust in doctors at that point, and people were very deferential to doctors judgments. Roosevelt eventually removed health insurance from the bill to make sure that the rest of his social welfare plans went through.
