Is That David Deutsch's Reference to Time Travel?
David Deutsch has a 1991 paper called Quantum Mechanics near closed time like lines which is a technical paper that's about this subject. It matched fairly closely to what they were trying to solve plot-wise. In Infinity War Thanos kills himself so the vision he had can't steal the stone and then it resets as an old man who can't change his past or present. We'll explain why that is in just a second but so that way you can’t go back in time kill baby Thanos and just be done right.
