i was chasing distributed generation ideas even before our solar was main street. We were the first utility in the country to actually propose to our regulators to pay customers to go solar. When we provide solar plus storage in their homes, you create these homes that are then these little virtual power plants. AndThese folks never have to worry about an outage. You get to then leverage those resources to make the grid operate more cost effectively and more resiliently.

While gasoline prices soar, solar company Sunrun is poised to usher in a customer-led revolution of distributed energy technologies. Sunrun’s CEO Mary Powell combats a “no and slow” culture to transform more homes into virtual energy plants by preaching optimism and scorning bureaucracy. She’s moving with urgency to create a cleaner and more cost-effective future as fast as possible.
