Jim Jones and the Rise of Father Divine

In 19 59 when he met father divine, we'd seen the montgomery bus boy cots after the rosa parks incident. We're still a year or two out from when the greensborough sittings and the freedom rides were going to bring the plight of african americans so starkly into the main street middle class consciousness. But in divine's outfit, jim saw something that brought both f those obsessions of his together. This was socialism in action. No revolution required. You didn't need to make the revolution. You could beat it.
